Adex Plastics & Machinery focuses on sustainability and the use of recycled materials at Propak Africa

“Large global corporations are pushing for sustainable packaging solutions and Adex Plastics & Machinery aims to deliver these solutions, says Adex Plastics & Machinery MD Paul Clark. “All our new machines to be exhibited at Propak Africa are aimed at enabling local suppliers to pursue market opportunities locally and abroad by providing production machines that have the flexibility to use both recycled and traditional materials,” explains Clark.
Adex Plastics will launch the MAMATA Vega 500SF at Propak Africa 2025. This new technology for the South African market has a world patent and is marketed worldwide. The MAMATA Vega 500SF is a pouch making system capable of processing recycled materials as well as traditional laminate materials.
In terms of sustainability, efficiency and economy, the MAMATA Vega 500SF has the smallest carbon footprint in its category. The machine enables quick changeovers and low process set-up wastages. “The secret to the machine is the Opti Seal System which enables every seal on a pouch to be programmable in terms of seal time, seal pressure and temperature, something that has not been seen before, and enables companies to run polyethene structured type pouches which are now 100% recyclable,” Clark explains. The machine is designed to run 24/7 and has a very quick start-up time due to the programmability of the machine. It is also able to store information that can be recalled for a job in the future, preventing the need to reset parameters. Adex Plastics & Machinery will be physically demonstrating the machine at Propak Africa, Hall 5 stand D 11 with a representative from MAMATA present on the company’s stand.
Adex Plastics & Machinery will also exhibit the Euroline FAS converting machine for the manufacture of various types of plastic bags on a roll from 100% recycled polyethylene. The Euroline FAS converting machine originates from Sweden, and this will be the first of this type of machine in South Africa. The technology allows sealing to be done tension free. The machine also has a particularly long dwell time on the sealing, which allows sealing at low temperatures and makes a very strong seal on materials from 18-40 micron. The seals are guaranteed even in the case of multiple layers of recycled material. Another new feature to the South African market is the machine’s ability to run both low-density, high-density, medium density, and even recycled biomaterials. This machine will also have live demonstrations on the Adex stand Hall 5 stand D 11 at Propak Africa.
The company will also exhibit the CMD 864 which is known and trusted in the South African market for the manufacture of refuse bags on a roll using 100% recycled materials. The secret of this machine is its ability to run at 140 metres a minute, making it a truly high-speed production machine. The larger model CMD 1270 GDS runs at nearly 200 meters a minute and makes draw-string refuse bags on a roll both perforated and interleaved. The CMD 864 machine can be programmed to produce different roil counts as required. It is also a modular design that can include a labelling unit (demonstrated at Propak) as well as other additional attachments such as sine wave, and interleafed bags on a roll according to the customers’ requirements. See the machine Running in Hall 5 stand D 11.
Both these plastic bag manufacturing machines include Proprietary Highly Patented Rotary Sealing Technology which can produce a variety of refuse bags with a wide range of applications in the South African packaging market.
Adex Plastics & Machinery focuses on multiple solutions for the flexible plastics industry, to minimize waste going to landfill, complete washing lines, repelletizing lines , and complete plants for blown film, thereby creating a circular system of solutions for plastic waste. The company’s solutions promote the reuse of plastic waste, addressing environmental concerns and reducing landfill dependency.
All the machines demonstrated on the Adex stand Hall 5 stand D 11 at Propak Africa 2025 will be running recycled and recyclable materials.
The technologies on show will be the same offered to companies worldwide which will also give the south African customers excellent export opportunities with the pouches/bag on roll products from these machines.
